The boat one, I shot along the shore of San Marco, maybe around Arsenale. It was just a boat, nothing special, a little bit lit up in the evening, looked nice, so I took a photo and in the post (I was just adjusting the color and light with default windows 10 picture browser), turned out black and white was my favorite, a boring stuff turn to something that could be interesting all of a sudden.
Black and white, why does B/W has this magic to turn crap into slightly less crappy stuff? I also realized that my lens wasn't wide enough to present the object the way I wanted, but after moving backwards a few meters I managed to get the shot. Again, in auto mode, because I had no idea which dial does what.
My father is a wedding filmmaker, he taught me pretty much everything about camera but in the end I didn't remember anything he taught me even though he brought me on a wedding shoot to practice once. Why didn't I remember anything he taught? Because I had zero interest whatsoever, I didn't care about camera, I didn't care about photography, I hated it, hated it since I was a child, because whenever we went somewhere, my father always request to make a photo of me, that got in the way of me enjoying liberty and having fun. I was a very uncooperative with photographers.
Upon my leaving for Italy in 2013, my father bought me this new camera "Sony A7", I didn't really use it much until recently I picked up youtube, neither did I realize just how much of a beast this camera is, and how much it means as a mirrorless camera to traditional pro camera market. I'm glad he chose this camera.
The second photo was shot in Lido, Venice. Just felt that building with all those greens deserve a shot, I was on a bridge and the building was facing water, what a nice place.
[Sony A7, kit lens: 28-70mm, UV filter]
