Took this picture of a flight taking off in Venice Italy today, with naked eyes all you can see is a shape of airplane, I tried to test the limit of clear image zoom on my A6300 with the 18-105mm zoom lens at longest range, 105mm x 2 clear image zoom x 1.5 crop factor = 315mm focal length.
After clear image zoom you can clearly make out what's written on the plane, easyJet, without it it's just a red-white ant-sized plane in naked eyes.
This image is not the complete shot, it's been cropped to only focus on the plane. Here's the original image without crop
You can see the outlines are very artificial, that's exactly because clear image zoom is not optical but a digital manipulation, well, so this is the image you get if you decide to use clear image zoom, now you know! Still usable in some occasions, can be better than without clear image zoom but crop in in post. Well, that's gonna be an interesting topic to test on, I will try to test it out this week and put result on blog and YouTube. Is it worth using clear image zoom? Stay tuned.
